Sharing Books and Friendship at Tamarind Book Club's Christmas Lunch
42 book clubbers and guest enjoyed an afternoon of conversation and delicious food at the Tamarind Book Club's Christmas Luncheon today, Thursday 1st December.
The event was held at the Caloundra Powerboat Club with water views over the Pummicestone Passage.
Our guest speaker was author J.M. Peace whose thrillers A Time to Run and The Twisted Knot have enjoyed wide acclaim. Jay spoke how the idea for her first novel was developed over years of asking 'What if?"
She reflected on what can go wrong when hitchhiking. This was a common way of getting around in Australia and in Europe a few decades ago, especially for younger backpackers watching their funds.
And let's face it, we were all young once. So, 'What if?" was the first question and a full storyline for A Time to Run developed from there.
Jay's second novel The Twisted Knot was released in July 2016 and has a 4 star rating on Good Reads. It follows Constable Sammi Willis who has returned to duty after recovering from the events that happen in the first novel.. A murder in the district looks like vigilante action and Sammi investigates.
Local bookseller Graeme Bowden from The BookShop at Caloundra was also a guest at the lunch and contributed 3 recent novels as lucky door prizes. Thank you to our special guests Jay and Graeme and all who came along to spread Christmas cheer and goodwiill.
See you next year.
